Independence Day 2026 – Flags Out on Main Street

Celebrating 250 Years of Our Nation’s Freedom

This morning, our detachment proudly lined Main Street in Forest City with American flags—a tradition that serves as a powerful reminder of who we are and what we share.

Surrounding the fountain in the heart of our town stand the service flags representing every branch of our nation’s military. Each American flag along the sidewalks bears the name of a local veteran—neighbors, family members, and friends who answered the call to serve.

As you walk our sidewalks, take a moment to read those names. Remember that every one of them represents a story of sacrifice, courage, and commitment. They are the men and women whose service helped preserve the freedoms we enjoy each day, often without a second thought.

For just a moment, set politics aside. This isn’t about party or ideology. It isn’t about the left or the right. It’s about the people. It’s about Americans who believed that serving something greater than themselves was a responsibility worth embracing.

The American story has always been written by ordinary people doing extraordinary things—for their families, their communities, and their country. Military members and civilians alike have contributed through sacrifice, hard work, and an unwavering belief that tomorrow can be better than today.

That spirit of service, unity, and hope is what has carried this nation through every challenge. It is what makes America strong, and it is what will continue to move us forward.

Today, as the flags wave over Main Street, may they remind us not only of those who served, but also of our shared responsibility to honor their legacy by caring for one another and striving together toward a brighter future.

God bless our veterans, our active-duty service members, and the United States of America.

Semper Fidelis!
